The story
In 2007, we decided to go to LA to present our film 961, selected in the competitive section of the Hollywood Digital Video Film Festival. We simply thought that it would be worth the trip to shoot a movie there in California, in the legendary region of the hollywood studios and the magic landscapes of the wild west coast. The Big Sur project was born.
We wrote a story, a road movie from LA to Big Sur. At the time, Pierre-Adrian was studying in Milan, and Val was working in Geneva. We organized a casting online and then physically in LA, we rented a van and some basic film material and grip, and finally we called Benjamin Benoit to join as sound engineer.
By the end of March, everything was ready and we took a flight and promissed our grand-parents that we would bring back a film from the US. We met local talents Olga Rosnikova and Travis Shakespeare, who were crazy enough to join this film caravan on the way to Big Sur. We warmly thank them for their creative input and talent. Today, Big Sur is a 33 minutes short film with TV exposure, running festivals and eventually winning awards.
Here is a pitch
